My favorite thing to do when I was eleven was to grab a book, climb a fruit tree and spend the afternoon reading and munching. Though I don’t climb trees as often now, I’m still secretly eleven inside and still love a good middle grade novel.

Aside from nearly five years spent in Singapore, I have lived in Texas my whole life and I love it. Until the temperature gets over 100 degrees, I don’t even mind the heat.

At the end of summer 2017, the peaceful bayou where my family had lived for twenty years was inundated after Hurricane Harvey and the following dam releases. We are still (and will be for a very long time) in the process of recovering from this disaster. One of the ways I’m coping with this is by restoring old furniture to fill up whatever house we eventually buy to replace our lost home.
