This garden journal is just a few notes about some of the plants and creatures in my backyard. Animals and plants have always fascinated me. As a kid, I had dozens of pets (some that my parents didn’t know about) and I loved working in my dad’s vegetable garden and my mom’s flowerbeds. Vacations in my childhood meant camping, either in our beautiful Texas State Parks or on a few acres of undeveloped land in east Texas that my parents owned which we called The Farm. I spent a lot of time exploring nature then reading about my discoveries. But we don’t have to go far to enjoy nature; there are so many plants and animals in our own yards, neighborhood parks, and along our many bayous here in Houston. Even our golf courses are seasonal homes for migrating birds. If you click on a picture, you can read a little about my backyard discoveries.
