MARCH 23: RED HAT LITERACY LUNCHEON

Knights of Columbus Hall, Pearland

Benefits the Adult Reading Center, the only professional community-based literacy provider in the Pearland service area that utilizes volunteer tutors to support its mission of providing instruction at no charge to adults with limited literacy skills. Many of these individuals have difficulty functioning effectively in the community due to poor speaking, reading, or writing English skills. More information TBA.

MARCH 31: GROOVE: HOT JAZZ AND COOL PEOPLE

Omni Houston Hotel Westside

Hosted each spring,  our GROOVE jazz event combines great food, great company and great music for an unforgettable evening! The event features live music performed by nationally recognized artists in residence for the Katy Jazz Festival and the opportunity to meet some of our current school year’s grant winners. All proceeds from this event benefit the Katy Education Foundation.

MAY 11: B.F. ADAM CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT

Black Horse Golf Club

One of the largest non-celebrity tournaments in the Houston area, the B.F. Adam Classic is held each May. Since its inception in 1992, more than $1.6 million has been raised to fund Cypress Fairbanks Education Foundation efforts.

APRIL 3-8: BAYOU CITY BOOK FESTIVAL

All Lone Star College College Campuses
COST: FREE

The Bayou City Book Festival is a new initiative coming out of Lone Star College’s (LSC) Center for Civic Engagement. The Center desires to effectively and efficiently integrate literacy and literary works within the lives of their students and the wider Houston-area. BCBF seeks to create the venue for nationally and internationally known authors to speak to audiences about unique ideas, meet with attendees on an individual basis, provide free literary programming, promote diverse works of literature and their authors, and focus attention on literacy within the City of Houston. Exhibitors consist of book sellers, authors, presses, non profits, and unique specialty items relating to literacy and literary works. See list of events here.

Now in its 22nd year, this annual fundraiser benefits the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. Experience these notable authors bringing their best-selling books to life.
