Hannah E. Harrison strikes again with another beautiful, endearing picturebook, MY FRIEND MAGGIE! This is Penguin Random House’s third book from Hannah E. Harrison in two years, and I hope we see many more!
I’m busy polishing pages for the SCBWI-Houston conference in October, and I’m also looking forward to the Houston Writers Guild’s Indiepalooza on September 23 & 24. I doubt I’ll make it to a writing retreat this fall, but I’m keeping an eye on the retreat list for 2017. A mid-winter break would be nice. It may be quiet in Houston this month, but for the remaining days of August, we have seven writing conferences with seventeen coming in September!
Here’s this weeks news:
Happy Book Birthday
This week’s shout out goes to the author and illustrator of the adorable picture book hits BERNICE GETS CARRIED AWAY and EXTRAORDINARY JANE, SCBWI Oklahoma’s Hannah E. Harrison!

From the publisher: Paula and Maggie have been friends forever. Paula thinks Maggie is the best—until mean girl Veronica says otherwise. Suddenly, Paula starts to notice that Maggie is big and clumsy, and her clothes are sort of snuggish. Rather than sticking up for Maggie, Paula ignores her old friend and plays with Veronica instead. Luckily, when Veronica turns on Paula, Maggie’s true colors shine through.
